Chandrika to takeover SLFP

The former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has made preparations to initiate a special political programme to resoialize the complaisant political tradition and principles introduced by her father, the founder of Sri Lanka Freedom Party S.W.R.D Bandaranaike, stated a senior minister of the government.


Speaking to ' Sri Lanka Mirror' he further stated the SLFP which was created by Mr. Bandaranaike , nurtured by Sirimavo Bandaranaike and lead towards a victorious path by Chandrika Bandaranaike , is being diluted by the Rajapaksas and many government ministers had been requesting Chandrika to come forward to resocialize the SLFP ideology.

Since her children have arrived in Sri Lanka Chandrika Bandaranaike is currently spending time with them and she has promised her team that she will join active politics from next January.

However the minister denied the claims that Chandrika Bandaranaike is intending to contest for the presidential election as the common candidate and stated that she has decided to back a common candidate in order to safeguard SLFP.
