Indian journalist given petrol to drink

The Indian journalist who was arrested on Wednesday (25) at Kilinochchi has been deported and he has reached India via Chennai airport.


According to police, Tamil Maha Prabhakaran was arrested over photographing Army camps and police stations in North.

Talking to Tamil Nadu journalists, he has stated that while under detention he was tortured mentally by the authorities and was not allowed sleep.

“I did not get any food from the morning until 7 pm on the day I was captured. Later when I was given food I got water with it. But it was not water. It was petrol. It can be a mistake. It can be unintentional. But I doubt it" Maha Prabhakaran further stated.

He was alleged of entering the country under tourist visa and working as a journalist.

Commenting on this he added:" Did not you see how they treated Channel 4 journalists? The train they traveled in was obstructed at Vavuniya and the government did it"

Police media spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana stated that by arresting the particular they were able to avoid wrong information being presented to the world about Sri Lanka.
