The TNA says it will reconsider participating in the parliamentary select committee if the government expands its purview and extends and invitation to the party.
TNA leader R. Sampanthan, speaking to BBC Tamil Service, commented on the president’s invitation in parliament to his party to join the government in finding solutions to issues locally.
He has said that the TNA had discussed matters with the government for one year, and at the third meeting, the party had made a proposal, to which the government had not responded.
The agreements reached with the president are yet to be implemented too, he has said.
Blaming the government for the suspension of the talks, he has said the TNA did not participate in the PSC thereafter, as it had planned to reduce powers to the provincial councils.
