The Lakshmi Pooja being conducted at every full moon day at Sivasubramaniam Kovil at Station Road, Matara was disrupted again today (16).This Kovil is at the heart of a longstanding dispute, and one party is not allowing its Hindu priest to enter the premises.
The court order granting access to the Kovil for the priest is not being enforced properly, and he and his family were attacked in the early hours of November 17, according to reports.
A complaint to police today was futile, and the priest, along with Hindu and Buddhist devotees, held the Lakshmi Pooja at Station Road in front of the Kovil.
