President Mahinda Rajapaksa left the country this afternoon on a one-day visit to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where he will attend an awards ceremony and hold bilateral meetings.
One of the main events on the President’s agenda will be attending the Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony, taking place this evening, the Presidential Spokesman said.
According to the Prize website, the annual award “celebrates achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.”
Among the finalists for this year’s award include multinational companies such as General Electric (GE) and Walmart, among others.
During the visit, President Rajapaksa will also hold several bilateral meetings with officials in the country and meet with the Sri Lankan community living in the emirate.
